Walden Savings Bank
Zachary Peterson, born and raised in Orange County, NY is a Senior Credit Analyst in the Commercial Lending Department at Walden Savings Bank in Montgomery. After graduating with honors from The College of Saint Rose in Albany in 2009, Zachary decided to further his education, receiving his Master’s Degree in Business Administration in 2011, also from Saint Rose. After working upstate for 3 years, Zachary was approached by WSB to interview for an opening, and the rest is history. Approaching 5 years this upcoming February, Zachary has been a model employee for the bank, and his hard work and determination have allowed the bank to continue increasing their strong portfolio, as well as allowing for borrower’s to achieve their dreams of building and improving their respective local businesses.
A few of Zachary’s highlights include creating, promoting, and executing a well-organized “Dress-Down Program” at WSB, in which employees are allowed to wear jeans and sneakers every Friday of the year, with their agreement of a small donation of $3 being withdrawn per paycheck. At year-end, the bank matches this “donation pool” dollar for dollar, and then the monies are divvied up between the 22 departments, and donated locally, and/or nationally to any charity that each individual department agrees upon. Between the start of 2017, and the end of 2018, approximately $45,000 will be raised and donated. Additionally, in 2017, Zachary was elected to participate in the Hudson Valley’s sector of the Real Men Wear Pink Campaign, which is a nationally recognized movement to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness. With Zachary’s hard work and determination, he raised an astonishing $10,001, which placed him 1st (out of 25) “Real Men” in the Hudson Valley, and just outside of the top 100 nationally.
Aside from Banking, Zachary has also been in the restaurant business for the past 17 years, working for the same owners, which is a testament to his diligence and loyalty. Throughout approximately 6 months of the year, Zachary works 70+ hours a week because he loves staying busy, and more importantly, he simply loves what he does. Every day is a gift to him.
Zachary is a charming young man, and is getting married in October, 2018 to his beautiful fiancé, Kelly. Yes, they’re both very cool, similar to the Saved by the Bell characters from the early 90’s. Zachary enjoys traveling any spare minute he gets, buying new sneakers is an every-week occurrence for him, and he’s a big fan of Crossfit, French fries, and playing Spikeball on the beach, all with an ice cold… water in his hand.
